My Name Poem

Stanza 1: write the meaning and or origin of your name. Try to expand the meaning of your name into diffrent languages or imagine what you think it means. Write your own feelings about your name. What does it mean or represent to you? write a simile using your name. write a meatphor using you name and include a family and/or personal detail. i would use Behindthename.com to help with the meaning and stuff.
Stanza 2: explain how you got your name. tell a family story.
Stanza 3: write the name of the family member or friend that has had the biggest impact on your life. write your feelings about this person and an anecdot (story) about this person.
Stanza 4: write in extended details about you, your family, or your friends. include personal hopes for your future.

There is a name that exists, a name uncommon,
A name entitled to me.
Powerful and complete, good intellectually,
Is what the name Adiola means.

A person who is bold, a person who is independent,
Not a builder but a planner:
A person who is inquisitive, a person who is responsible,
And most importantly a thinker.

The origin unknown, a mystery to behold,
The rareness of my name.
The uniqueness of it all, the fact that it exists even now,
A word I’m glad to attain.

My name is my name; your name is yours,
Do not try to compare.
Adiola is special, Adiola is unique,
To test it will not be fair… for you.

How I got the name Adiola is interesting enough,
I guess I’d have to thank my dad,
To hate this name, this unique word,
Would mean something bad.

It’s like….
I am Adiola, and Adiola is me,
I don’t know how to explain:
To put my feelings into words,
And foreign… so it seems.

To me,
My name represents nothing,
For I am nothing,
And nothing is something indeed
And I have not at yet
Achieved that title,
That an “everything” is blessed to achieve.

Adiola…. Powerful and complete is like pen to paper
Such strokes saying a lot.
The pen holds her power, the paper her goal
That blank sheet to fill up.

My everything is The “Everything”
The rock on which I stand,
My comforter, my strength,
The one there when I’m down.

Who am I you ask?
I’m just a simple girl…
A lonely girl…
In this cruel world,
Just trying to persevere,
Just trying to live
Day by day
Doing the best that I can.

Ah (A): Open wide, take in all that I have to say.
Dee (Di): Decide if I’m worth it, because I already ruled you out.
Oh (O): Okay? Yes? No? What’s your choice?
LA (La): Late are you? You need to redeem yourself now.

Did you read it right?
ADIOLA:
Open wide, take in all that I have to say.
Decide if I’m worth it, because I already ruled you out.
Okay? Yes? No? What’s your choice?
Late are you? You need to redeem yourself now.

Think about it.
Think hard and long,
And when you get that answer,
And you find me long gone,
You’ll know you missed your chance,
You blew it.
Goodbye.

In the name poem, reference was made to another poem I had written.

To me,
My name represents nothing,
For I am nothing,
And nothing is something indeed
And I have not at yet
Achieved that title,
That an “everything” is blessed to achieve.

The above stanza is in reference to my poem, Nothing, Something and Everything
